Alot of people call "furries" all cartoon characters with animal appearence. They use the word "furries" more like an insult and they say that furries are groww, bad, wrong, stupid, overrated and so on...
In my eyes these character NEVER were any furries. They are simply classic CARTOONS and it was like tat always. Word "furries" were invented by people that don't like characters with animal appearence to harm those, who like them. But their problem.
It's like if haters callcharacters Mary-sue without knowing what Mary-sue is. It's simply stupid calling that invented people for their discriminations and "sorting" that was NOT necessary.
These characters were cartoons and they ALWAYS will be cartoons, deal with it All of us grew up on bugs bunny and other cartoon animal characters, so stfu, this sorting is more gross than all those attempts to insult animal characters.
And if you keep calling them furries with intention to hurt... then i'm one of those proud furry artists
It looks like an anthropomorphic animal to me. In fact, furries are cartoon animals with human characteristics. Disney's Robin Hood is a furry. I love Bugs Bunny and Robin Hood. It's not a bad thing. People just need to change the way they think about the word "Furry" because everyone's got this fetishy image in their head that doesn't represent the fandom.
well i think there is no need to have so many ways to call it... word "cartoon" was there even before, so i dont know why somebody should call it furry...
It's the same thing. If someone says it's furry they aren't wrong. It's just a different word for the same thing. If someone says they like furry art, it's a general word for humanistic animals that most people understand. If I call a rabbit a bunny I'm not wrong. A rabbit is a bunny.
Thats true but its about taste of each of us. For example i just refuse to call it furry. It sounds like an insult like if somebody called a black man like coon or negro. And some black people dont even like to be called a black people but afroamericans. And so even i take furry like that and i prefer calling it simply cartoons, that i also believe it was the first calling before some bored person came and decided to make more already useless callings for the same thing. Thats all
I've never met a black person who refers to themself as afroamerican. I do know some black people with afros, though. Furry isn't an insult and it's not at all comparable to a racial slur. Firstly, furries are fictional characters, not a group of people and secondly, the term Furry isn't a hateful term. I like furries. I'm a part of the furry fandom. That makes me a furry. I'm also a Treky, a Brony(a female brony), a Whovian. The point is, if I want a word for this type of art, I use the shorter term, Furry, not "anthropomorphic animal art". If I wanted to meet other fans of this art or other artists, I would go to a furry convention. Do you think the fans of the characters would call them something they don't like? The only reason people use furry as an insult is that we still treat it like an insult. Furry isn't a bad thing. Furry isn't an insult, it's my fandom and I don't like my fandom compared to racial slurs. Why can't it just be a cute short word like "bunny" for "Oryctolagus cuniculus". When I say "Oryctolagus cuniculus" people don't know what I'm talking about, but when I say "Bunny" people get it. The same goes for "Furry".
its not a group of people but its similary compared. Furries aren't ALL fictional characters, but also jsut a group of them.. the ones that are animals with human characteristic or appearence
And i met a few black people who prefer to be called afroamericans rather than jsut black people, so.. its jsut about taste as i said before.. while some people prefer to call this part of characters furries and like that phrase, i prefer to call them simply cartoons, there i also can count all characters, not only the animal ones The term furry was created later, after the main official calling "cartoons" or "toons", so yeahh.. its like calling Czech Republic like Bohemia (that is its first old name) yet its still the same thing.. but for people it would sound rude, when its Czech Republic in the new calling already and so on so yeah
The term is "African Americans" but that really doesn't describe Black people accurately at all, because unless they immigrated here from Africa, they aren't African. If they're native to America, they're just Black Americans. Otherwise, what would we call African immigrants? Not all of them are black, but they're still African Americans.
Furries don't actually exist. There's no such thing as a walking talking animal. If there were, that would be totally cool! Not all Cartoons are furry, so we needed a term to describe just the walking talking animal ones we're fans of. THat's why we call them furry. It isn't rude. There's no other nice short friendly word, and I don't think a cartoon animal would care if you called it "Furry" because they don't exist. Am I offending your sensibilities by calling it furry? If so, why? There's no rational reason to be offended by the word "Furry". It doesn't have negative connotations. Some people have associated the fandom with bad things, but that doesn't mean that the entire fandom is bad. There is no reasonable comparison between calling a Czech person Bohemian and calling a cartoon walking talking animal furry. For one, Czech people exist. Cartoon animals don't. There's a difference between defining an entire nationality of people and defining a group of cartoons. Trivializing racism because you don't like the word "Furry" though it technically describes the type of cartoons shown here is very Juvenile and extremely offensive.
These cartoons are Anthropromophic animals are they not? Thus also making them
Furries.
Furries is a term for anthros
Before they were cartoons
They were anthros..

so yeah
